General information
study

Our curriculum and educational plan is in line with Bologna guidelines and our program lasts for 3 years and has 6 semesters and 180 ECTS points. There a is total of 6 subjects on first 5 semesters and 4 subjects + diploma project on 6th semester. Total duration of the education in each semester is 15 weeks with educational load of app. 23 school hours of direct education weekly. During the semester there are 2 mid term exams (first after 5 weeks of education and second after 10 weeks of education). For the purposes of mid term exams, there are 2 weeks off during the semester for each mid-term (total of 4 weeks). The obligations of students regarding each course are determined by the course holder (professor) and students are informed about these obligations at the beginning of classes in form of an official descriptive document published within the Infoeduka digital student service system available for each course. Each study course is accredited with a certain number of ECTS points. The number of ECTS points is determined by the number of teaching hours needed to master the course materials, including active classes (lectures and exercises) as well as work at home. One ECTS point represents 30 hours of workload. Average weekly workload consists of 22 – 24 school hours of classes and 15 – 20 hours of work at home. The number of ECTS points the student is expected to collect per semester is 30. Each study year (two semesters) is accredited with 60 ECTS points. During the final, sixth semester, the preparation of final paper/project within student practice is accredited with 10 ECTS points.

Professional title acquired

The professional study program is completed by passing all exams and acquiring a minimum of 180 ECTS points including the passing of final practical exam, completion of professional practice and preparation of final paper. The professional title acquired is in accordance with the Act on Academic and Professional Titles and the Academic Degree (Official Gazette, No. 87/09, entered into force on July 21st 2009).

By completing their studies, the students acquire the title of: professional bachelor of computer engineering in corresponding sub specialization which corresponds to the degree of Baccalaureus (bacc.ing.comp.), Eng. Bachelor of Computer Engineering.

Duration of the study

The study is conducted as a full-time program during a period of three years or six semesters of which the sixth semester is dedicated to narrower professional guidance and preparation of final project. Expected duration of classes is 15 weeks per semester which makes 19 weeks in total together with the two midterm examination periods. The first semester and almost the entire second semester are common to both study programs. Mutual courses are present in other semesters, but in smaller numbers than during the first year of study. Classes are scheduled and adapted to the needs of students, especially of those students who work and study.

Grades

Grades for each course are determined accordingly to number of points gathered by each student. There is a total of 100 points available (similar to 100%) for each course, and grades corresponds to points as follows:

1 insufficient (1) (E) – 0,00- 50,00%
2 sufficient (2) (D) – 50,01 – 58,00%
3 good (3) (C) – 58,01 – 75,00 %
4 very good (4) (B) – 75,01 – 92,00%
5 excellent (5) (A) – 92,01 – 100,00%

Points can be gained for number of achievements that are different for each course. In typical course points could be as follows:

3- 5 – if student is present and active on 100% of lectures and lab’s
5- 10 – maximum available for homework
5- 10 – maximum available for personal seminar
20 - 25 – firs mid term exam
20 - 25 – second mid term exam
20 - 25 – third mid term exam
20 – 25 – final exam in oral form

During each element of examination (i.e. mid term exam) there are clear link between questions / tasks and learning outcomes. In such a structure we can assure that no points are scored per each examination unless at least minimum threshold is reached per each learning outcome tested. By doing so, we can guarantee that each student who at least got passing grade D has knowledge that covers each of the learning outcomes to the satisfactory extent.

Progression through the study

The study program is spread over three study years. In order to be admitted to the following year of study, students need to pass previous year exams valued with a minimum of 40 ECTS points in total (it is not necessary to pass all exams). Admission to the third year of study is not possible, regardless of the number of ECTS points collected during the second year, in case the student did not pass all first year exams. The students can enroll in the next year of study in the winter semester. Enrollment in the summer semester is performed automatically after registration of a completed winter semester in the beginning of February.
